The Kreyol word "boutey" means bottle. In Haitian Vodou we typically place the certain properties or elements of a certain Lwa in a bottle and then decorate the bottle based on the Lwa, rite, attributes, physical manifestation and characteristics. The bottles are also a type of pwen (point) for the Lwa to work off of or to work from. These bottles are placed on the altar of its respected rite as an offering when the Lwa arrive.

They are usually filled with the various types of rums and moonshine that each Lwa like. Some of the rums, once mixed with other ingredients are even to hot for the strongest men to drink. There are those who drink other mixed concocktions with gasoline and gun powder, Ogoun Badagris at times drinks through his ear!!!

These bottles are made at the time of your order and will vary in price depending on the Lwa, materials and man hours. These are not mass produced and can sometimes take three (3) weeks to make and deliver. Prices start at $75.00. The boutey will of course vary in color and appearance as this also depends on which Lwa and from which rite.

The seven day candles we sell are used for a variety of purposes.  For example protection, good luck, peace, romance, luck while gambiling, good fortune in legal matters. A candle can be lit for many reasons, they also serve as a simple offering to the lwa.  Different colored candles are used as offerings to the lwa, as well as 7 day candles with the images of saints.  Different saints represent different lwa, for instance St. Sebastian is the lwa Gwan Bwa Ile. As a service to my clients I will bless and prepare any 7 day candle we sell.  When I bless and prepare a candle I call the appropriate lwa to work on that candle for whatever purpose it is being lit. I also use various herbs, oils, minerals and Haitian poudre (powders) to enhance the effectiveness of the candle. Blessing and preparation is done upon request and for an additional fee.

These small service candels are excellent for small altars and ancestral altars. They go for $1.00 each.

 

 

Oils - I handcraft various oils for spiritual purpose. Oils are very effective, however the use of essential oils in Vodou as practised in Haiti is rare due to their expense. The following is a sample of some of the oils I make. Please feel free to make a specific request and I will handcraft an oil for your purpose. I make oil by using a base oil then adding essential oils, herbs, powders, charms, etc. Once prepared the oil is kept in my Badji where it can be energized and in the presence of the lwa.

Poudre/Powders - The use of magical powders in Vodou is very common in Haiti. They are prepared in a ritual manner by a Houngan or Mambo and are crafted for a variety of purposes. The following Haitian powders are prepared by Mambo Asogwe Jennifer and are avaliable upon request. Prices will vary by type of powder and quantity desired.
